We are experiencing phenomenal growth in 2014 and are adding to our staff to accommodate this. Empire Telecom is a growth oriented telecommunications company and is seeking a Safety Specialist at our Billerica, Mass location.
The Safety Specialist will ensure that in-house crews and subcontractors comply with internal, client and OSHA safety standards. This position coordinates and develops corporate safety training programs and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
This position provides technical safety support to production and corporate personnel
Monitors safety regulations and provides technical support to employees to ensure compliance with Federal and State safety regulations
Ensure highest level of safety and quality control requirements are upheld
Identify unsafe work conditions and practices, documenting and taking action to eliminate these conditions and behaviors
Train personnel through classroom courses, webinars, and field training classes
Prepare written safety and health programs and policies
Conduct research to develop and revise training courses and prepare appropriate training materials, such as, handbooks and multimedia visual aids, related to the wireless industry and construction related safety topics
Identify company safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs
Determine requirements and coordinate supplies of appropriate safety equipment and PPE to employees
Assist in accident investigations and root cause analysis
Periodically audit practices and records of facilities to ensure compliance with company programs and Federal/State occupational safety and health regulations
Assisting HR and Management Teams to identify safety training needs, tools and resources
Facilitate the collection of participant information and evaluate the results of all training activities
Maintain all written safety programs and training records
Train junior staff members
Attend regular safety meetings
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

years of experience in wireless construction industry including best practices. Field experience required.
Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations required, , with a strong knowledge of OSHA regulations
Strong PC skills with proficiency in MS Office
Must display good judgment, ambition, good work ethic, positive attitude, reliability and a team mentality
Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Organized with a strong attention to detail and capable of working with minimum supervision
Ability to work weekends, nights and in extreme weather conditions if necessary
Ability to frequently stoop, stand, sit and climb
Valid driver?s license
Must pass pre-employment testing (drug screen, MVR and background check)
Certifications
Must have or obtain OSHA Construction 500
Must have First Aid and CPR certification
Comtrain or Gravitec; plus but not required
Teaching experience, secondary vocational credential preferable
