This position is responsible for coordinating the complex logistics behind bringing sight-restoring corneal transplants to patients in need.
This position is the primary contact for surgeons, schedulers, and Portland, OR Tissue Distribution Specialists in regard to east coast distribution events.
This is a great opportunity for individuals who support donation, possess strong problem-solving skills, and have an excellent attention to detail.

This is a fast-paced role where mastery and ownership of important processes is gained quickly.
A successful TDS at VisionGift East (VGE) will have the opportunity to carry out the following functions for LVG:
Distribute VGE tissue, both transplant and non-transplant, per LVG policies and procedures Develop skills in matching transplant corneas with patients and surgeons, taking into account surgery type, surgical suitability, surgeon preferences and LVG processing schedule Learn to track inbound and outbound shipments using multiple shipping interfaces, following up with end users as needed On occassion, hand-deliver tissue to local hospitals and surgery centers Network with other eye banks and partner entities to facilitate fulfillment of transplant needs Build and manage the LVG surgery schedule by processing tissue requests Occasionally facilitate surgeon/resident/fellow training by organizing wet labs and distributing training tissue Work closely with Portland TDS staff to manage the flow of ocular tissue between Portland, OR and Boston LVG locations Learn to navigate and maintain a highly developed database to carry out daily functions Maintain a professional demeanor and interact well with others Evaluates tissue and determines surgical suitability as needed Other duties as assigned by management Lions VisionGift offers a generous benefit package including, but not limited to:
